Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in relevant specialty License: Valid state RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 in the work history section. - Ventilator experience is required. - Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment. - IV start experience is preferred. - Experience with the charting system EPIC is required. - Availability to work every other weekend and holiday. Description: The unit is a 36-bed neuroscience and high-risk respiratory unit. It provides skilled care to a diverse patient population, including cerebrovascular accidents, transient ischemic attacks, seizures, and neuro disease processes. Nurses will work in a team nursing model to improve workload and patient care. Responsibilities include caring for patients with high-risk respiratory issues and floating to neuro ICU as needed. Staff will be assigned appropriate patients within the neuro ICU and paired with a buddy. Nurses will use heated high flow, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management as part of patient care. All applicants must submit any requests for time off with the application. Approval for time off will be at the manager's discretion. The unit utilizes interdisciplinary support services, including respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Patients may have diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, brain tumors, and complex spinal surgeries. The ideal candidate will have experience with cardiac telemetry, management of ventilated patients, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. A maximum of 14 days of time off is allowed. Travelers must complete necessary lab work and exams within a specified timeframe.
