Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years preferred License: Active state RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - EPIC experience - EKG tele competency assessment - Experience with stable chronic ventilators - IV Start preferred Description: Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, but they can be up to 1:5-6. Travelers may float to other specialties as needed. Assigned locations may include nearby campuses. Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Provider reserves the right to cancel shifts due to low census and with notice. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. Passing an online EKG tele competency assessment is required. Preferred experience includes charge experience and trauma level experience. Prefer travel experience. Candidates must be comfortable floating based on unit needs with no restrictions. Epic charting experience is required for all inpatient nursing roles. Candidates with previous employment history in the system must disclose this information. Candidates should be familiar with managing various patient conditions and equipment used in step-down settings. Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, AKI, COVID, and general intermediate care needs. The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services and phlebotomy. Special procedures include chest tube management and insulin drips. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in caring for ventilated patients and cardiac telemetry.
