Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required. License: Must have a valid nursing license prior to start date. Certifications: Required certifications include ACLS and BLS. Must-Have: - Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and management. - Experience with chest tubes and fresh tracheostomy care. - Ability to manage feeding tubes and care for post-operative patients. - Familiarity with epidural management and non-titratable cardiac drips. - Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips. - Competence in external BiPAP/CPAP usage and total laryngectomy care. - Experience with Doppler flap checks. Description: First-time travelers accepted. Locals not accepted. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend as per their contract. Depending on operational needs, consecutive weekends may be required. Charge nurse responsibilities may be needed pending operational needs, with provided training and resources. Travel nurses may be expected to precept and/or have students shadow them during their assignment. Travelers may be required to float to different levels of care, including Med-Surg and ICU, with resources provided. Refusal to float may result in termination of contract. Unit staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4. The unit provides care for patients with surgical-related diagnoses and requires specialized skills in various medical procedures. Candidates must have experience in managing arterial and central lines, chest tubes, and a variety of surgical drains. Inpatient post-operative patient care and enteral feeding management experience are essential.
