Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,957 per week in Kearney, NE

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Competence in Arterial Lines Ability to titrate drips (Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin) Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips Description: The role involves working in a stepdown unit with a focus on adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory conditions, stroke, renal failure, and post-procedure care. RN to patient ratios are 1:4-5 for both day and night shifts. A charge nurse is available on each shift, and the charge nurse may take an assignment. Patient care technicians will be present, with a typical ratio of 1:12. RNs are required to troubleshoot high flow respiratory equipment. The unit expects RNs to work flexible schedules, including every other weekend and a minimum of two holidays during the contract. Floating to Med-Surg or ICU to care for PCU acuity patients will be necessary. Navy blue scrubs are required as part of the dress code. The work environment emphasizes patient experience, responsiveness, and effective communication about medications. Candidates must be adaptable, team-oriented, and open to feedback. There is a diverse patient population with varying cultural backgrounds. RTO requests should be presented upfront and will be limited during the assignment. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
