Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,974 per week in Des Moines, IA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 24 months of current Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience is required. Client/neurosurgery care experience is required. Ortho/orthopedic care experience is required. Trauma care experience is highly preferred. License: Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission. Certifications: AHA/Active American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS ACLS required. AHA/Active American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS BLS required. NIHSS certification is preferred and can be obtained during onboarding. Must-Have: - 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital setting. - Client/neurosurgery care experience. - Ortho/orthopedic care experience. - Drip experience including Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium. - EKG/Strip reading and telemetry experience. - De-escalation certification preferred. - Trauma level I experience highly preferred. - Skills checklist must be specific to the discipline. - Professional reference from within the last 24 months is preferred. - Driver’s license is required. Description: The position requires a registered nurse specializing in progressive care. The nurse will manage patients with heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, and orthopedic needs. The bed size of the unit is 25, and the nurse-patient ratio is 1:5 - 6. Candidates must have experience in administering drips such as Heparin, PCA's, and 3% Sodium, with no titration required. Specialty equipment experience including telemetry, chest tubes, and airvo is highly preferred. Nurses will be required to float across various campuses. The facility expects the contractor to work 1-2 of the upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical skills, effective communication, and teamwork abilities.
