Job Title: Registered Nurse I Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Surgical Stepdown Duration: Direct Hire Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of two years License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: Not applicable Must-Have: - Two years of work-related experience. - Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. - Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. - Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. - Ability to be detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Description: The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients. Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process. Utilizes proper medical terminology. Addresses problems and progress toward goals. Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Demonstrates independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. Coordinates activities of others but does not supervise. Leads others in the same work performed but does not supervise. Provides input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Engages with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Interacts with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Collaborates frequently with other healthcare professionals and staff. Engages with individuals at the director level or above.
