Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current licensure as registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio Must-Have: - Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures - Understanding of state and federal regulations related to nursing - Skill in operation of medical equipment Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the healthcare of 20-60 bedridden inmates. Duties include making rounds, evaluating care needed and rendered, and developing care plans. The RN will teach healthcare principles and administer medication, including narcotics. Direct nursing care will be rendered as needed, including specialized procedures such as IV therapy and dialysis. The RN will organize and oversee emergency response teams and direct healthcare staff assigned to the area. The position involves acting as the lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of a supervisory nurse. Assisting physicians with diagnostic evaluations is also part of the role. Clerical tasks include charting and recording medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. The RN will complete necessary reports and maintain inventory of controlled drugs and medical supplies. Arranging outpatient clinic appointments and managing prescriptions ordered by physicians is required. Administrative tasks may include serving as a liaison with others and attending meetings. The RN will also act as an instructor and may participate as a member or leader of problem-solving teams. Physical fitness and the ability to write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports are essential.
