Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Multiple shifts available Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: BLS/CPR certification required Must-Have: Must be available for varying shifts, including weekends and holidays. Description: The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include observing, assessing, and recording symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Perform nursing rounds and take vital signs regularly. Prepare and administer prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans. Monitor patients under restraint on a timely basis and provide immediate medical attention during emergencies. Administer first aid and arrange for transportation to a hospital emergency room when necessary. Counsel patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Participate in staff development and education. Review care plans written by staff and train or orient new employees. In a corrections medical environment, the nurse is responsible for the health care of bedridden patients. Responsibilities may include making rounds, evaluating care needs, developing care plans, and teaching health care principles. Administer medications, including narcotics, and render direct nursing care as needed. Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, and more. Organize and oversee emergency response teams when needed. Act as a lead worker and direct health care staff assigned to the area. All required safety protocols must be followed within the facility.
