Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with established guidelines of nursing practice. Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation consistent with established guidelines. Meets unit specific physical demands and is required to stand and walk most of the time on duty. Engages in a significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and days of the week according to patient care requirements. High risk exposure to blood and body fluids is inherent in this position. Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, and kneeling or crouching minimally. Maintains accountability for the provision of patient care. Evaluates effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers. Coordinates care in collaboration with other departments. Ensures patient rights and confidentiality are upheld.
