Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psychiatry Profession: Nursing Specialty: Psychiatric Nursing Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Rotating Shifts (Days/Eves/Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License (New York only) Certifications: BLS Certification (American Heart Association only), CPI Certification Must-Have: RN License (New York only), Minimum 2 years experience, BLS Certification Description: Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history. Plan and provide nursing care for patients. Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options. Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans. Administer psychotropic drugs and other medications and note reactions. Arrange further medical attention when necessary. Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and the need for treatment. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Test for vital signs of pain and ensure treatments for pain. Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physicians' written orders. Maintain patient confidentiality. Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping. Perform administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system. Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals.
