- Position: Registered Nurse – Psychiatric (Psych)
- Location: West Valley City
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Night Shift
- Schedule: 3×12
- Experience Required: 2 Years
- Weekly Pay:$1900 to $2100
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
- Perform detailed mental health and physical assessments upon admission and throughout treatment
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and assess for side effects or adverse reactions
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and implement appropriate safety interventions
- Monitor patient behavior and respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies or escalating situations
- Facilitate therapeutic communication and provide emotional support to patients and families
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Promote a safe therapeutic environment while following behavioral health protocols and infection prevention standards
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, coping strategies, and discharge planning
Requirements
- Active Utah Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License
- Minimum 2 years of recent Psychiatric or Behavioral Health nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification preferred
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent de-escalation training preferred
- Strong understanding of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention, and behavioral health treatment
- Excellent assessment, communication, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills
- Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to remain calm and professional during high-stress situations
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered behavioral healthcare
