Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Psychiatric Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: Minimum 2 years of youth psychiatric experience License: IN state RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS (AHA only) Must-Have: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training preferred Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care to youth in a psychiatric setting. Responsibilities include assigning and reporting on 13 patients shared with Mental Health Technicians. Medication consent must be obtained prior to administering medications. Charting on assigned patients is required. The nurse will manage aggressive situations with team members. Participation in treatment plan sessions for assigned patients is essential. Admissions and discharges will be part of the role. The nurse will communicate with the parents of assigned patients. Preparation of reports for the Department of Child Services will be required. Equipment utilized includes Epic charting, Pyxis, vital sign machines, and EKG machines. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 to 10. The position requires every other weekend. No call is required. There will be no floating to other units or departments. The dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs. The orientation will cover unit expectations and procedures. Training will include communication standards with regulatory agencies. Attendance and behavioral expectations will also be part of the training.
