Job Title: Adult Psych Registered Nurse Profession: RN Psych Specialty: RN Psych Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric experience License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS Certification Must-Have: Proficient in using an automatic medication dispensing system. Proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and their side effects. Able to assume the role of charge nurse. Able to complete admissions and discharges. Competent in the use of IV pumps and care of diabetic patients. Description: This position is for an Adult Psychiatric Registered Nurse. The nurse will work on a 30-bed unit for adults aged 18 to 65. The unit treats patients with a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients. Patients may also present with medically acute needs such as IV therapy, CPAP, wound care, and diabetic care. The clinician to patient ratio will be 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. Experience in a similar inpatient setting is required. Floating to other units may be necessary. Rotating shifts are expected for daytime positions, but are not required for night positions.
