Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years behavioral health experience, pediatric experience License: State Licenses required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Behavioral health experience, pediatric experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and organization. Principal duties include assessing persons served care needs, developing a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassessing the plan of care. In collaboration with the physician, nursing care is provided and coordinated for individuals and groups. Assistance is provided in teaching persons served and families, along with milieu management. Communication and education are key components in discharge and aftercare planning. A safe and secure environment is to be maintained for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitoring for and reporting to the physician(s) any potential risk to persons served safety is essential. Creating a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism is key. Care is provided in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Specific persons served needs are identified, and person-centered, compassionate care is implemented. Functioning as a clinical leader includes delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. Utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care is required. Input into processes for improvement is also a responsibility. Careful use of resources is promoted. Training direct care staff may be a responsibility. Indirect responsibility for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program may exist. Responsibilities may also include scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role modeling the organization’s mission and values through a professional image, attitude, behavior, time management, and communication skills is essential. Providing spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients is required. In community residential settings, support for a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach is essential. Commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in hospital and residential areas is expected. Upholding the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence is necessary. Annual training and competency in required programmatic training must be maintained. Other duties or functions assigned by supervising staff may be required. May function as a charge nurse.
