Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mental Health Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years required License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS Certification required, CPI training must be current prior to start Must-Have: - At least 1 year previous experience in mental health nursing required - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required - Ability to manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure - Flexibility required to provide coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Description: The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department is an essential member of the patient care team. This role involves responsibility for direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas. The RN will be responsible for developing and periodically updating individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care. They will evaluate patient outcomes and identify available resources for patients. The Crisis Psychiatric Unit provides care to patients aged 5 and up with psychiatric illnesses. Some patients may also have a need for medical care. The most frequent psychiatric diagnoses include major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, and psychotic disorders. Patients needing or requesting detoxification also comprise part of the clientele.
