Job Opportunity – Behavioral Health Registered Nurse – Virginia

Location: Arlington, Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 Night shifts per week. Patient ratio of 6:1. Weekend coverage required (approximately 8 weekend shifts per 13-week contract). 24 hours of orientation provided.

Highlights:

• 13-week contract assignment in a secure inpatient behavioral health unit with 18 beds and average daily census of 13
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics with diagnoses ranging from anxiety and mood disorders to schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and substance use
• Specialized behavioral health environment with seclusion protocols, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention practices
• Electronic medical record system with required orientation training provided
• Smoke/nicotine-free facility committed to staff and patient wellness

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (must be in hand at time of application)
• Current BLS certification required
• MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; behavioral health experience strongly preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience in community hospital, LTAC, or trauma center settings preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31; medical exemptions only)
• Proficiency in behavioral health nursing skills including medication administration of psychotropics, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, physical hold protocols, and managing suicidal/assaultive behaviors
