TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Psych RN in Kansas City, Missouri, 64130!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis (e.g., suicidal ideation, aggression). Therapeutic Communication: Building trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy. Description: 48 hours guaranteed per week. Registered nurses will assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems. This involves taking thorough patient histories, observing behavior, and using diagnostic tools. Registered nurses will develop individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues. This includes setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. They will administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions. Knowledge of psychotropic medications is essential. Registered nurses will monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects. Unit staffing consists of 10 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 8 to 1 and mental health technicians at 12 to 1. The documentation system used in this unit is Meditech. Coverage is required for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract. Crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation skills are critical for this role. Candidates should embody integrity, compassion, and respect and adhere to communication values. AIDET communication behaviors include acknowledging, introducing, duration, explanation, and thanking patients to create positive care interactions. Unit guidelines and policies are in place to ensure quality care. Awards and recognition for the department may be available during the interview process.
