TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Psych RN in Bangor, Maine, 04401!

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Pediatric Psych Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Psychiatric Unit - Pediatric Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 7P - 7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required License: State License required Certifications: BLS, MOAB obtained on site Must-Have: De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints, medication passes, comfortability to run groups, documentation Description: ASAP start needed. Interviews followed by manager approval. Must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed. The facility has a total of 94 beds; 50 for pediatrics and 44 for adults. Common pediatric diagnoses include Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Adult patients commonly present with Schizophrenia, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and may also have Eating Disorders or Anxiety. Facility does not accommodate forensic patients or inmates. Seclusion rooms are available when necessary. Occasionally, may see patients with Substance Use Disorder or those detoxing but they must be medically cleared. Provides traditional medical and psychiatric care alongside specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens. Patient ratios are RN: Day 1:5-6; Night 1:13 with resource support. Psych Techs for pediatrics: 6 on days and 2 on nights; for adults: 2 on days and 2 on nights. Travelers may have opportunities to act as Charge Nurse, though this is not required. Support on the unit includes a Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, and charge nurse. Management encourages open communication regarding any issues. Psychiatric staff includes Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists who conduct daily rounds. The charting system used is Cerner. Travelers may be required to float between pediatric and adult units. Weekend rotations are every other weekend. Holiday work is expected as part of the rotation. Travelers will sign up for preferred shifts, with management reviewing to ensure coverage. Debriefing forms should be completed after any escalations, and management will assist in such situations. MOAB training will be reinforced on site, with scenario-based training available for practice.
