Job Requirements
Must be comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced acute psychiatric hospital.
Adaptable, versatile, and a strong team player.
Must be flexible to work any night of the week, including EOW (every other weekend).
2 years of recent Psych experience required.
Patient population is 100% adult:
100-level: Depression and suicidal patients.
200-level: Severe mental illness.
300-level: Combination of both.
Small detox unit also available.
Must be able to float between units as needed.
Responsibilities include:
Medication cart
Passing medications
Admissions & discharges
Patient assessments (10–15 daily)
Fast-paced environment; may be required to manage aggressive patients, including some physical holds.
No IV or wound care required.
Staffing ratio is approximately 1:12, with at least 2 nurses per unit; occasionally 1 RN + 1 LPN.
Approximately 40% voluntary admissions and 60% committed patients; temporary patients stay approximately 8 days before transfer.
Handle with Care certification required — can be completed onsite if needed.
EOW and 1 holiday per winter season required.
