Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680 - $1,770
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Expectations: Every other weekend; holidays as required
- Setting: Acute inpatient psychiatric care / behavioral health nursing
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Work Environment: Safe, secure, patient-centered behavioral health unit
- Additional Notes: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals as needed
- EMR: Meditech
- Dress Code: Solid navy scrubs
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Alabama or a compact state license
- No temporary licenses accepted
- Associate degree in nursing required
- AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required
- CPI certification required
- NURSYS verification required
- 2 years of nursing experience preferred; will consider 18 months of experience under the highest level of professional license
- At least 1 year of recent psychiatric nursing or related behavioral health experience required
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work nights, holidays, and every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse in an inpatient behavioral health setting
- Monitor physical and emotional health while maintaining a safe and secure care environment
- Support anger management, coping skills development, and de-escalation using sensory reduction tools
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, mental health professionals, and the nursing team to support recovery goals
- Document patient care accurately in Meditech and follow unit protocols
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly
- Assist with patient comfort, therapeutic structure, and daily care activities on the psychiatric unit
- Float to other units or hospitals when needed to support patient care operations
