Job Details
- Location: Kansas City, MO
- Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
- Schedule: Coverage required for three 12-hour shifts daily, seven days a week, including weekends; days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
- Qualifications: Valid BLS and CPI certifications. Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems. Experience in developing individualized care plans, administering psychiatric medications, and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions. Crisis intervention skills for immediate support during crises such as suicidal ideation and aggression. Advanced skills in therapeutic communication and procedures including monitoring vital signs and medication effects.
- Unit Specifics: Handling patients from 12-18 years old in the adolescent unit, with various adult and senior units, each with specific patient demographics and acuity levels. On the unit, documentation is managed through the Meditech system.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in psychiatric nursing or relevant mental health care setting.
- Additional Information: No float rotation explicitly required; unit follows ICARE values emphasizing integrity, compassion, and respect, with AIDET communication protocols.
