Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health care
• Behavioral health nursing experience and/or applicable behavioral health certification
• Strong patient assessment, therapeutic communication, de-escalation, and crisis-management skills
• Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts in an inpatient psychiatric setting
• Successful completion of required clinical competency, health screening, background, and credential verification processes

Psychiatric and Behavioral Health Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients receiving inpatient psychiatric treatment
• Complete comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments, monitor patient status, and identify changes requiring intervention
• Administer medications and treatments safely while evaluating patient responses
• Support therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and behavioral de-escalation efforts
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and communicate important updates during shift handoffs
• Promote a respectful, structured, and recovery-focused environment for patients and colleagues
