Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in the patient care team, responsible for the delivery of both direct and indirect patient care. This position involves working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide day-to-day care for children and adolescents, ages 6-18, on an inpatient behavioral unit. The primary diagnoses treated include major depression and ADD/ADHD. The RN is responsible for medication administration and education, daily documentation of patient care, and managing and monitoring behaviors throughout the unit. Additionally, the RN will actively participate in and lead educational groups.

Job Requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Valid State of Maine RN license required
• BLS certification required

Experience

• 1-3 years previous nursing experience working with adults preferred
• At least 1 year previous nursing experience required
• CPI Training preferred

Skills Required

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Able to effectively communicate with patients, families, providers, and coworkers
• Ability to remain composed in stressful situations and manage stress appropriately
• Strong professional boundaries
• Dedicated team player with the ability to work independently
