Registered Nurse – Adult Psychiatric

FSN is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Services team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to adult patients facing acute mental health and behavioral challenges, fostering a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care to adult psychiatric inpatients, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct thorough physical, behavioral, and mental health assessments to inform individualized treatment plans.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate personalized care strategies in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer and monitor psychiatric medications and treatments, observing for efficacy and adverse reactions.
  • Continuously monitor patients for changes in mental status, behavior, and physical health, ensuring prompt intervention when needed.
  • Perform suicide risk assessments and uphold strict patient safety protocols.
  • Apply therapeutic communication techniques to support patient recovery, engagement, and compliance.
  • Respond effectively to psychiatric crises or behavioral emergencies with professionalism and confidence.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication regimens, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and adherence.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, compliance audits, and staff training to continuously enhance care delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Valid and current RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health interventions.
  • Expertise in crisis intervention and patient de-escalation techniques.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Evening shift: 12-hour shifts
