Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join an Adolescent Psychiatric Unit in the Bronx, NY. The RN will provide high-quality psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting while collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Perform ongoing psychiatric and behavioral assessments.
• Monitor patient safety and respond to behavioral health emergencies.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Document patient care accurately using Allscripts EMR.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge planning.
• Float to other psychiatric units as required.

Requirements

• Active RN License.
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience.
• Pediatric clinical experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are welcome.
• BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• CPI or PMCS certification required prior to start.
• BSN preferred.

Schedule & Unit Details

• 12-hour night shifts.
• Every other weekend required.
• Must work at least one major holiday during the holiday season.
• No on-call requirement.
• Travelers may float to other psychiatric units as needed.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6.
