Job Title: RNFA (Perioperative Services) Profession: Registered Nurse First Assistant Specialty: Perioperative Services Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Shift Hours per Shift: 5 x 8s; 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, or 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM; Monday to Friday. Experience: Minimum of three years as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. License: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. Must-Have: Successful completion of an RNFA course. Description: Assists the surgeon in the first assistant role during surgical procedures. Acts only as the RNFA during surgical procedures. Responsible for providing exposure of the surgical wound under the supervision of the surgeon. Knowledgeable of and consistently applies the principles of aseptic technique. Provides hemostasis during surgery under the supervision of the surgeon. Cares for and dresses the surgical wound, while under the supervision of the surgeon. Manipulates tissue of the surgical wound, under the supervision of the surgeon. Safely handles and disposes of biohazardous materials from operative procedures. Accesses facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to fulfill job-specific responsibilities related to patient safety and emergency preparedness. Documents temperature of tissue/allografts and verifies package integrity per manufacturers' guidelines. Efficiently handles and prioritizes multiple tasks. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
