Job Title

RN First Assist and Circulator

Location

Northampton, MA

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 4x10-hour shifts | On-call required (two weekday evenings per week and one weekend every three weeks)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgeon in a lead first assist role from the start through the conclusion of operative procedures
  • Perform circulating nurse duties as assigned, with the role split approximately 50% first assisting and 50% circulating
  • Function within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures under the direction of the Operating Room Nurse Manager
  • Participate in on-call coverage, including weekday evening call and rotating weekend call (24-hour coverage)
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
  • Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (conditional license accepted for the initial contract length)
  • Completion of an RN First Assisting course conforming to the AORN Core Curriculum
  • Minimum of five (5) years of diversified peri-operative nursing experience with proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to transition fluidly between first assist and circulator roles within the same surgical environment
  • Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties in a peri-operative setting
