RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria and nursing processes. The RN assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff. They coordinate patient care in collaboration with other members of an interdisciplinary team. Educating patients and families is essential, along with utilizing resources to prepare patients for discharge. The position requires demonstrating flexibility with schedule changes and being available for call as required by the department.
