Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Rehabilitation.
The focus is primarily on Trauma Rehabilitation patients.
Patients typically include those with traumatic spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and stroke victims.
The unit also covers burn patients and individuals with multiple amputations.
Care will involve managing ventilator-dependent patients, with an emphasis on weaning them off the ventilator when possible.
The nursing staff will be responsible for medical-surgical patients as well.
The nurse-to-patient ratio during the day shift is 1:3.
During the night shift, the ratio increases to 1:5.
Weekend work is required every other weekend, but the unit will strive to accommodate schedule preferences.
Floating to similar units may be necessary to meet facility needs.
The staff will collaborate with various interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services.
Skills required include but are not limited to managing feeding tubes, performing wound care, and monitoring blood glucose levels.
Registered Nurses should have proficiency in IV starts and maintaining ports.
Additional equipment and patient care protocols will be adhered to as per unit guidelines.
