Job Summary
Join a dedicated team as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Registered Nurse at Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) in Herrin, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care within a nationally recognized rehabilitation service known for excellence in patient outcomes.
The Inpatient Rehabilitation unit specializes in a high neurological patient population, including individuals recovering from stroke. Nurses on this unit deliver a broad spectrum of care, similar to a medical-surgical floor, focusing on holistic patient assessment, individualized care planning, and collaborative implementation with a multidisciplinary team. The unit does not manage Heparin drips.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, addressing mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons regarding care plans and health conditions.
- Utilize strong clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition promptly.
- Contribute to a healthy workplace environment by managing conflict effectively using professional communication skills.
- Ensure compliance with Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care.
- Actively participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience in an inpatient medical or rehabilitation setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN).
- Experience caring for neurological patient populations.
Skills & Competencies
- **Clinical Skills:** Comprehensive patient assessment, individualized care planning, medication administration (excluding Heparin drips), patient education, wound care, vital sign monitoring, discharge planning, clinical judgment, critical thinking.
- **Equipment:** General medical-surgical and rehabilitation nursing equipment (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring devices, mobility aids).
- **Soft Skills:** Professional communication, conflict resolution, teamwork, empathy, adaptability, strong organizational skills, ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
