Job Overview

The School Nurse will provide comprehensive health services to students in a specialized early childhood school serving approximately 120 students (ages 3–5). About 48% of students have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with significant health and developmental needs. The nurse will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including Special Education, Mental Health, Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and Occupational Therapy (OT) professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a private nursing office and provide health services to students.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for students with medical needs.
  • Support student health plans and ensure a safe school environment.
  • Participate in the IEP process and collaborate with educational and clinical teams.
  • Respond to student health concerns and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct vision, hearing, and dental screenings.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant student health records.
  • Train, delegate, and supervise nursing procedures for school staff as required by state regulations.
  • Educate and consult with students, families, school staff, and community healthcare providers regarding student health and developmental needs.
  • Recommend accommodations and modifications to support students' learning based on their health status.
