Job Summary:
Not quite ICU, definitely more exciting than med-surg—welcome to the perfect middle ground. As a Stepdown RN, you’ll care for patients who are stable enough to leave critical care but still need close monitoring. Think of it as the unit where your clinical instincts stay sharp and your multitasking skills get a proper workout (cardio optional, but likely).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care for patients transitioning from ICU or requiring higher acuity monitoring
- Perform detailed patient assessments and continuous monitoring
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and cardiac drips as needed
- Interpret telemetry and respond to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery process
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Ensure adherence to safety and clinical protocols
Requirements:
- Active RN license in Arizona or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown, Telemetry, or ICU experience
- Strong cardiac monitoring and critical thinking skills
- Experience with drips and high-acuity patients preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
