Key Responsibilities of the Step-Down RN
Manage cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Administer and monitor emergency medications and procedural sedation
Perform IV start, maintenance, and PICC line management
Administer blood products and manage BiPAP/CPAP
Conduct frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks post-procedure
Implement infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
Requirements of the Step-Down RN
Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Minimum of 2 years recent Step-Down experience
Proficiency in cardiac telemetry and emergency care procedures
Experience with cardiac drip titration and respiratory management
Community hospital experience required
