Description:
Please ensure awareness of the following.
Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an emergency team.
There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Specific details related to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary.
You will report as assigned by your unit manager if an emergency event occurs.
You should not apply for this position if you are not comfortable with these conditions.
High acuity ICU patient ratio is 1:2.
Float requirement to other ICUs and special care units is necessary.
Epic experience is required.
Prior experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps is preferred.
No block scheduling requests will be accepted.
SICU skills include general post-operative care for surgical recovery patients.
Transplant recovery experience includes liver, heart, lungs, kidney, and pancreas.
Knowledge of continuous renal replacement therapy is required.
Required skills include:
Accessing and managing ports
Arterial line management
BiPAP/CPAP management
Blood product administration
Care of ventilated patients
Central line care and management
Management of chronic and acute renal failure
Continuous IV sedation
CVA and acute stroke management
ECMO operation
External ventricular drain management
GI surgery experience
High flow nasal cannula use
ICP monitoring
Candidate must demonstrate understanding of infection prevention.
Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is essential.
Management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure is required.
Phlebotomy skills are mandatory.
PICC line management experience is necessary.
Post-surgical care skills for cardiac surgery patients are required.
Experience in pre/post-cardiac catheterization and procedural sedation administration/monitoring is essential.
The work involves patient age groups including adults and geriatrics.
Daily census is approximately 28.
Unit has 33 rooms and 32 beds.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
Patient diagnoses encompass cardiac surgery, transplant patients, general surgery, and overflow cases.
Special procedures and equipment knowledge will be assessed.
This role requires transplant experience specific to liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas.
Travel compliance guidelines include:
Only local travelers residing over 65 miles will be accepted.
Two years of experience in the specialty is required.
References are not required for submission, but two manager or supervisor references will be necessary for contract clearance.
