Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights or nights only; 2:1 patient ratio; 72-hour orientation

Highlights:

• Specialized Surgical Intensive Care Unit managing complex neurological, oncological, and critically ill patients
• Advanced critical care procedures including CRRT, EVD management, ICP monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and massive transfusion protocols
• Epic electronic medical record system utilized throughout the facility
• Rotating shift structure reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• May float to medical ICU or medical-surgical/progressive care units as needed

Requirements:

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required (acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Two professional references required (one must be from a manager/director or formal supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required

Patient Population & Clinical Focus:

• Adult patient population in a 12-bed specialized surgical ICU setting
• Complex diagnoses including hemorrhagic and septic shock, sepsis, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
• Advanced procedures: external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, mechanical ventilation, heated high flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT using NextStage system, vasopressor titration, and Belmont rapid infuser for massive transfusion
