Description:
This position is for a Surgical Intensive Care Unit Nurse working rotating shifts.
Nurses may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on departmental needs.
Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed.
Candidates must have 2 years of ICU experience.
EPIC experience is a requirement for this role.
While oncology experience is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Patient age group includes adults.
The unit deals with diagnoses such as hemorrhagic shock, hypovolemic shock, sepsis, septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium.
Special procedures include external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocol, mechanical ventilation, high flow bipap, CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressors titration.
Candidates should have skills in accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, chronic/acute renal failure, emergency medications, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
Nurses should also be able to interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias, as well as provide infection prevention and isolation precautions.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to maintain IVs and manage patients on cardiac and vasoactive drips.
There may be requirements to float to other units as needed.
All candidates must have current acute care experience within the last 12 months.
References must be provided from previous managers or supervisors.
