Please ensure your traveler is aware of the following:
Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team" where there will be an expectation to stay until the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts may vary.
By signing your contract, you accept the above expectations and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs.
You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above expectations.
High acuity ICU with a patient ratio of 1:2.
Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units.
Previous charge experience preferred.
Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy and caring for post-operative CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection is beneficial.
General post-operative care for surgical recovery patients is a primary focus.
Experience with transplant recovery for liver, heart, lungs, kidney, or pancreas patients is preferred.
Ability to manage high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ventilators, and arterial and central lines is required.
Candidates must have experience in infection prevention and be able to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias.
Handle care of ventilated patients and blood product administration effectively.
Management of multisystem organ dysfunction and failure is essential.
Ability to provide procedural sedation administration and monitoring is necessary.
The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
Patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics, with a daily census of 28 patients.
The unit is designed to accommodate a maximum of 33 rooms and 32 beds.
Patient diagnoses include cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, general surgery, and medicine overflow.
