Description:
This position involves providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced surgical intensive care environment.
The nurse will be responsible for the care of patients following surgeries and complex medical procedures.
The unit typically handles patients requiring post-operative care after cardiac and transplant surgeries.
The patient ratio is typically 1 nurse to 2 patients.
Float requirements to other ICUs and special care units may apply.
It is essential to have experience with inserting and managing arterial lines and ECMO.
Knowledge of cardiac drips and managing ventilators is also necessary.
The ability to work within an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy, is critical.
The environment may require rapid response to emergency events with expectations to remain on-site as directed.
Compliance with required vaccinations is mandatory, with exemptions only for medical or religious reasons.
Candidates must have experience with specific equipment and techniques, including IABP and PA catheters.
No block scheduling requests will be accommodated, and weekend coverage is expected.
Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in patient monitoring and crisis management in a critical care setting.
References must be available, and NURSYS reports should be submitted with the application.
This role demands adaptability and preparedness to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.
