Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps is preferred. Charge experience is not acceptable. Description: Please ensure your traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or to be a part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay for each emergency event will be relayed, as impacts may vary. By signing your travel contract, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above. This unit has high acuity ICU patient care requirements. The patient ratio is 1:2. There is a requirement to float to other ICUs and SDUs. Experience in caring for post-operative CABG, valve replacements, aortic dissections, IABP, and PA Catheters is important. General post-operative care for surgical recovery patients, as well as transplant recovery experience (including liver, heart, lungs, kidney, pancreas), is required. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy experience is also needed. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIH certification. Skills necessary for this role include but are not limited to arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and failure. Additional skills include PICC line management, ICP monitoring, and ventilator management. Experience with transplant patients is essential. The unit primarily cares for adults and geriatric patients. The daily census is approximately 28 patients, with 32 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. The patient diagnoses in this unit include cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, general surgery, and medicine overflow. The facility does not accept local travelers. Travelers must live over a specified distance from the site. All candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty for all locations. References are required from two managers or supervisors prior to starting the contract. Candidates must ensure that their licensure reports are up-to-date. Modules are billable and completed during orientation.
