Competence in rhythm strip interpretation
Experience with cardiac telemetry
Ability to initiate and maintain cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, and cardizem
Description:
Assess acute changes in patients and work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with chronic ventilation is preferred.
The RN must be competent in interpreting rhythm strips and passing the EKG strip test during orientation.
The RN is responsible for all aspects of tracheostomy care and management, with respiratory therapy available if needed.
The typical patient ratio is 1:6, with possible adjustments during peak times.
The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, cerebrovascular accidents, and congestive heart failure.
The RN will collaborate with an interdisciplinary support team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
Special equipment used in the unit includes telemetry monitors and IV pumps.
The role requires flexibility for occasional floating to other units as needed.
