Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: Valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Travel experience Description: This unit consists of 36 private rooms. It serves a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients. Priority admission is given to patients requiring a medical level of cardiac care and those recovering from cardiac interventions. These interventions include cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant. The unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients. The patient ratios are 1:5-6. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with the Epic charting system is required. Skills required include sheath removal, pre/post hemodialysis management, and accessing/managing ports. Additional skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance, and tracheostomy care. Telemetry and cardiac telemetry experience is essential. Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias is required. Knowledge of rapid response and code team protocols is necessary. Experience with post-cardiac angiogram, post-myocardial infarction, and pre/post cardiac catheterization is needed. The nurse must be proficient in insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips. Experience with feeding tube care, blood product administration, and central/PICC line management is required. The nurse should be competent in starting and maintaining IVs, heparin protocols, and managing vasoactive drips. Knowledge of non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions is necessary. Wound care and wound vacuum management skills are expected. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
