Roles and Responsibilities
Provide safe, comprehensive, and patient-centered nursing care to telemetry patients Perform detailed head-to-toe assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other clinical indicators Recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms and promptly communicate significant changes to the healthcare team Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely Manage peripheral IVs, central lines, drains, catheters, wound sites, and other patient-care devices Monitor patients with cardiac, respiratory, and other acute medical conditions Monitor patients receiving cardiac medications, anticoagulants, and other high-alert medications Recognize changes in patient status and initiate appropriate nursing interventions Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, treatments, and discharge activities Provide post-operative care, wound care, and other treatments according to patient needs Provide pain management and evaluate patient responses to medications and interventions Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, lifestyle changes, and discharge instructions Promote fall prevention, infection prevention, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and overall patient safety Respond appropriately to rapid responses, emergencies, and code situations Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, CNAs, case managers, and other healthcare professionals Support discharge planning and continuity of care Follow facility policies, HIPAA requirements, infection-control procedures, and medication-safety standards Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives
Qualifications
Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry nursing experience Current BLS Certification required Current ACLS Certification required or preferred based on facility requirements Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring and telemetry nursing Ability to identify and interpret common cardiac rhythms Experience with medication administration, IV therapy, and comprehensive patient assessment Experience caring for patients with cardiac and acute medical conditions Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time-management abilities Ability to prioritize multiple patient needs effectively during night shifts Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team Commitment to safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
