Travel Nurse RN - Telemetry - $1,794 per week in Shreveport, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Med Tele experience in an acute care setting required License: Active Registered Nurse License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Telemetry experience preferred, including post-surgical recovery, PIV skills, central line care, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac medications such as Dobutamine, Cardizem, and Heparin is required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry. The unit consists of 30 beds. Patient types include Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Congestive Heart Failure, post-catheterization (no sheath removal), Pacemakers, Dialysis, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. There is a CNA to patient ratio of 1:10. Staffing support includes a charge nurse who may or may not carry a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available in-house. An IV/VAT team is available from 7 AM to 3 PM. A Resource Nurse is available depending on staffing needs. Respiratory Therapy is available in-house. Clientist services are available on-site. Telemetry monitoring is supported by telemetry technicians. An admit nurse is part of the team. The charting system used is EMR: Meditech Expanse. IV pumps utilized are Alaris, with medication dispensing through Pyxis. Nurses may be required to float to other Med-Surg or Tele units as needed. Weekend rotation involves every other weekend commitment. The schedule will require working four days one week and three days the next week. Time off requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days and must be extended by one week for each full week requested off. Only one weekend of time off can be requested per 13-week contract. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 holidays. Uniform scrubs should be pewter in color, with t-shirts in gray, white, or black. Jackets must be gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. The unit fosters a friendly culture for travelers, promoting teamwork and support among staff.
