Travel Nurse RN - Telemetry - $1,815 per week in Chattanooga, TN

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac knowledge preferred Description: The Telemetry unit has 30 beds. Patient ratio is 5-6 patients per nurse. The unit is staffed with an unit clerk during the day and 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on both day and night shifts. There is a Nursing Supervisor and Clientists available. Equipment includes Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, and Philips Telemetry systems. The documentation system used is Meditech. Medications are managed through a Pyxis dispensing system. Scheduling requires working every other weekend, totaling 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule. Floating to other medical/surgical areas may be required, including general medical/surgical, orthopedic, and progressive care units. Patient experience requirements include bedside rounding and hourly rounding with specific checks. Nurses are expected to communicate known patient needs to PCTs at the start and throughout shifts. Documentation practices include recording telemetry application and rhythm strips in patient charts. A strict NO PASS ZONE policy is enforced for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms. Advanced skills required include knowledge of administering Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips. Procedures performed on the unit include chest tube and wound vac management, as well as EKGs. The dress code for RNs is navy scrubs, while PCTs wear ceil blue. Under shirts can be white, blue, grey, or black with no graphics. No artificial or gel nails are allowed. The unit has experienced Charge Nurses with many years of seniority. There is a shared governance model within the unit and facility. Awards and recognition programs are in place for staff achievements.
