Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Acute - Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience Description: The position requires a registered nurse with experience in a surgical acute telemetry setting. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience. Nurses are expected to possess certifications in BLS and ACLS. A valid license to practice as a registered nurse is required. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Travelers must have their own vehicles. Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. All nurses are expected to complete a skills lab focusing on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Maintaining a sterile field during procedures is crucial, and those who do not adhere to this may not be a good fit for the role. Other areas covered include lifts, restraints, and wound care, which serve primarily as educational content. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include transplants post-operative day 1, Whipple procedures, spine surgeries, and orthopedic joints, primarily trauma patients. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
