Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have post-procedural cardiac experience. Prefer PCU and Stepdown experience. Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and document it appropriately. Description: Telemetry unit requiring a registered nurse with a strong focus on cardiac care. Experience with post-operative procedural patients, including open heart, TAVRs, ablations, and post-cardiac catheterization is essential. The unit has a combined staffing pool for essential coverage, and floating between units is expected as needed. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, sepsis, electrolyte imbalances, and post-stroke patients. There is a charge nurse on each shift, primarily not taking a patient assignment unless necessary. Crisis and resource nurses are available in-house if needed. Certified nursing assistants are available to assist with patient care, with typical ratios varying from 1:8 based on staffing and census. Respiratory therapists will manage respiratory equipment, while nurses may be asked to assist when necessary. Remote telemetry technicians are available to minimize monitoring workload on nurses, who are still expected to read and interpret telemetry strips twice per shift. Scheduling is typically organized for six weeks, with travelers being asked to stay flexible. Weekend shifts are required, typically 5-6 shifts over a six-week schedule. Holiday work may be required, but not every holiday. Travelers are first to float to any other medical-surgical units or telemetry units within the organization. A variety of scrub colors are permitted. This is a traveler-friendly facility that values and treats traveling staff as permanent employees, with many travelers choosing to extend their assignments.
