Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Post-procedural cardiac experience (catheterization lab, ablations, open heart). PCU and stepdown experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret telemetry and document appropriately. Description: Telemetry unit requires a Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years of experience. Candidates must possess certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Experience with post-procedural cardiac patients is essential. The nurse will float between units as needed. The unit operates with a mix of cardiac-focused and general telemetry patients. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, depending on staffing and census. The charge nurse on each unit oversees patient care without taking on a patient assignment unless necessary. Patient Care Technicians are available on each floor to assist with care. Respiratory therapists are present and manage respiratory needs; nurses may assist as needed. Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips twice per shift. Schedules are typically made six weeks in advance, with flexibility requested from staff. Weekend shifts are required, usually one or two per six-week schedule. Holidays may require staffing but are not mandatory for every holiday. Travelers may be floated to other units in the facility as needed. Any color scrubs are permitted for this position. The facility fosters a supportive environment for travelers, treating them equitably with permanent staff. The charting system used is EPIC.
