Job Title: Telemetry Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: Temporary to Permanent Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact required Certifications: BLS and ACLS certification required Description: 1 Position Open Epic experience required The unit specializes in cardiac and telemetry patients. It is not a stepdown unit. Every other weekend work is required. There is no on-call requirement. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 5:1 to 6:1, depending on staffing. The nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Routine and complex care is provided based on long-range goals or plans. The nurse manages contingencies of clinical nursing effectively. Appropriate assignments and delegations are made to other care providers to assist in managing clinical situations. Nursing care is provided utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families are addressed. Medications and treatments are administered following appropriate protocols, while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given are documented accurately. Learning needs are assessed, and education is provided to patients, family members, and caregivers. Issues and resources are identified to enhance patient education. Newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. Preceptorship is provided by a designated trained staff member. All annual competency verification requirements must be completed. Completion of skills and competency validations will be documented as per organizational protocols. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred. One year of experience in the related nursing specialty is preferred.
