Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with at least 1 year on a cardiac unit. License: Valid state license must be pending or candidate must be willing to apply for a state license within 24 hours of the offer. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: - Competence with venous sheath pulls. - Charting experience with Cerner. Description: The Cardiac Short Stay department primarily takes care of patients pre and post cardiovascular procedures. This department operates 24 hours a day to accommodate throughput. Candidates must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, with one year in a cardiac unit. No call requirements are associated with this position. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Holidays require working 2 out of 3 holidays. The expected patient ratio during shifts is 6 patients to 1 nurse. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, STEMI, NONSTEMI, and CHF, among others. The unit is fully equipped to handle cardiac drips such as Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, and Heparin. Candidates must be proficient in managing various medical tasks and protocols, including cardiac telemetry and blood product administration. There may be a need to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities depending on volume and census. This contract may require completing modules prior to the start date, and professional conduct is taken seriously. All travelers must understand the importance of maintaining professional behavior while on assignment.
