Travel RN Job Details

- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays required as scheduled
- Call: Not required
- Floating: Required within the specialty and to lower-acuity areas as needed
- Patient Population: Adult patients
- Unit Profile: 30-bed cardiac telemetry unit with approximately 25 patients per day
Telemetry Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in cardiac telemetry, stepdown, PCU, IMC, or a comparable acute-care setting
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license at the time of submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac drip management without titration
- Experience with heparin protocols, central-line care, IV insulin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP management, and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Strong electronic health record and clinical charting experience
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Ability to float within scope of practice and support varying patient-acuity levels
- Flu vaccination required
Cardiac Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with primary or secondary cardiac diagnoses, stroke or TIA, and stable post-cardiac catheterization needs
- Monitor patients using remote telemetry and promptly identify changes in cardiac rhythm or clinical condition
- Interpret dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate nursing interventions, including rapid response or code team activation when indicated
- Administer and monitor specialty therapies, including non-titratable Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Protonix, and Lasix
- Perform cardiac assessments, neurological assessments, medication administration, and ongoing patient education
- Manage peripheral and central lines, IV therapy, oxygen delivery devices, feeding pumps, and related equipment
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, IV teams, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively during patient handoffs
- Float to appropriate lower-acuity areas as needed while maintaining safe, evidence-based patient care
